Opening Eyes Empowering Students in the Arts-Rich Classroom

Location: UFT Manhattan

This interactive four-hour citywide conference will examine ways that educators can utilize art as a means to foster conversation around cultural and individual identities. Participants will engage in art-based activities that increase access and student engagement across content areas. In addition, these activities will promote student voice in the classroom and school community.

During this one-day conference, participants will:

  • Develop relationships with artists and institutions to expand our
    cultural awareness and knowledge.
  • Use art as a vehicle to empower and explore diverse cultures.
  • Learn to provide opportunities for students to create art that
    explores their cultural identities.
